Not a morning person? Get into a routine

I am not the first person to write about "how to be productive". Rather than make some hacky list, let's just talk about the mentality we should have to start the day of right.

I wake up early. I used to have trouble getting up on time every day.

It took me a few decades to figure out that going to bed late makes it harder (not easier) to wake up early. Wild idea. Took me a lot of investigating to arrive at that.

I must drink coffee before I get in the shower. My Nespresso does the trick, but some days I prefer to walk out on the street and go to a coffee shop to get some fresh air.

I love to workout. Makes me feel more accomplished, happier, and feeling better. I hate to workout in the morning. I just can't do it. I've tried. Being an early riser, you would think this is something I'd do, but my body just doesn't want to cooperate.

I make my bed. Every. Single. Day. If I don't, I feel off. Like my home is a mess. Like I failed my first task. An easy one at that.

Here are some things that don't work for me. Maybe they will for you.

  1. Don't check your smart phone right away. -- Is this possible?

  2. Exercise. -- Yea, yea, yea.

  3. Drink cold water immediately. -- Don't see how this works.

  4. Eat breakfast. -- I usually unintentionally intermittently fast.

  5. Meditate. -- Tried it. Fell back asleep.

The point is. Whatever you do, make it a routine. Keeping things consistent makes you have to think less and feel accomplished before you walk out the door. A bad day that follows won't be as bad. A good day will be that much better.

What do you do? (that maybe I can add to my routine)
